COVID Vaccine Push and Children

If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.” (Thomas Jefferson). I like that quote, which is in the linked article. The article is worth reading. Although it is focused on Israel, it includes links to many of the facts and stats that the mainstream media in the US is not publishing. As the article states, the “facts and data” that we are receiving from the primary sources are presented from only one side.

A personal “rant”, then you can read the article for yourself. The article mentions Israel’s push to vaccinate everyone over the age of 12. I must comment on North Carolina’s recent policy that schools can vaccinate children 12 and over w/o parental consent. Our children are all grown, but if we had to have children in NC schools, I’d be having a civil conversation with school leadership informing them in no uncertain terms that they do not have permission to give my children any medication/vaccine without my written permission. I’d do this even if I wanted them to receive the vaccine; it is a matter of usurping parental rights as much as being about the vaccine!

I’d also present them with a notarized letter signed by my wife and myself stating this in writing. The letter would include a statement that the child does not have the legal capacity to consent without his/her parents’ permission. A copy of the letter would go to the school board. We are not lawyers, but it seems to me that this would serve as legal notice that they do not have a right to usurp our parental rights regardless of State policy. It has always been my understanding that schools cannot administer any medication without parental consent. I encourage parents reading this to take this action in any state or locality that is trying to usurp their parental rights! “Yes, Virginia, you can fight city hall.” I’m hoping that the NC ruling will be challenged before it can be carried out.

A NEW KIND OF CHRISTIAN LEADER

I agree with what Mario Murillo says in this post (https://mariomurilloministries.wordpress.com/2020/06/20/a-new-kind-of-christian-leader-3/). I have felt from early-on in this COFID-19 mess that 1) HaShem is trying to get our attention, and 2) that He want all followers of Yeshua to come out of this with new vision and action. I haven’t found mine yet, but I’m seeking. I also believe that denominational and non-denominational Christian churches, Messianic congregations, and other believing assemblies will fall by the wayside if they don’t “do business differently”, which includes being WC (Word/Bible Correct) and not PC (Politically Correct).

Until next time, May HaShem bless and keep you!

So, what do we do? How do we react?

Maybe the title of this series should be “Caution, Beware of The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing!”

An acquaintance recently commented that she is surprised at how easily we have given up our rights in this situation. I think it is primarily because the government and media have emphasized/caused the spirit of fear to run rampant throughout this event. And a second reason is that many people live their lives in constant fear of everything. Once the fear started, I think it took on a life of its own in the minds of many. After all, how could our government and medical experts be wrong? The answer to the second reason is easy – they need to put their trust in Yeshua! The answer to the first is more complicated, but I think it is essentially that we should carefully consider everything our politicians, medical “experts,” and news media say.

Now, I’m not saying we should have ignored all the cautions and guidelines. Common sense says we should use care when confronting anything that can be hazardous to our health, including viruses, and especially new virus strains. But, we should not live in constant fear. I also have to ask “Was it serious enough to cause extreme disruption to our economy and the livelihood of many businesses and individuals?” We won’t know the answer to that until all the dust settles, if it is allowed to do so.

How do I think we should react? What should we do? We need to be alert and prepared!

Be Alert!

I am not trying to instill a new fear but to raise an alert. We must remain alert so that we don’t become like the proverbial frog in a pot of water. “They” have learned that we can be convinced to give up our freedoms. So, be very cautious about any plans and actions that could lead to limiting our freedoms. Count the cost to you, your loved ones, and friends.

Take every news report, theory espoused on the internet, and claims that an event was predicted/prophesized, with a grain of salt until you research them and verify whether they are fact or fiction, or “true/fake news”, if you will.

Do not submit to unnecessary COVID-19 testing. If you are sick with flu-like symptoms, it does make sense to get tested. However, as far as I know, there is no law saying that you must be tested. The CDC and other organizational guidelines are just that, guidelines. Remember that, when you do receive a test, your information is recorded. At the very least it becomes part of your permanent medical record. I do not know whether personal information is included in the numbers that are passed up-the-line, but it wouldn’t surprise me because there is a big push on tracking.

Speaking of tracking, use a tracking app with extreme caution. Regardless of what is said about the records being anonymous, history has shown that this isn’t always true.

Never provide information to a doctor or other entity that is not directly related to the issue at hand. Request that they cite the specific law requiring you to do so. (Refer to the article by Leo Hohmann listed at the end of this post.)

BE PREPARED! Spiritually and Physically!

This applies regardless of suspected/expected COVID-19 follow-on actions. We are in the end-of-days and have been since the time of Yeshua but things are rapidly progressing. What we are seeing in the U.S. today is nothing compared to the persecution that is happening around the world. Do I think we will see real persecution in the US? Yes! When? I have no idea! But, I do pray that I don’t have to go through it.

Sidebar: For those of you who believe we will be “out-of-here” before anything bad happens, I encourage you to consider that there is nothing in scripture that specifies rapture before the Great Tribulation. However, that is a subject for a future post.

Be Prepared Spiritually By:

Ensuring that your relationship with Yeshua is strong.

Staying in tune with Him at all times so that you will not miss warning signs.

Always remembering that He is in control, regardless of what your eyes see or your mind may perceive.

Be Prepared Physically By:

Keeping emergency supplies on hand. I think we have all learned our shortcomings in this area during COVID-19. (For example, we had sufficient rolled white gold on hand in our normal supply, but there wasn’t any in our emergency stash.)

Getting out of debt. When you are in debt, you are at the mercy of those holding the debt.

  1. Pay off all credit card debt. Carrying credit card debt is expensive and wastes money on interest charges that could be better used. Debt makes no financial sense except for very large ticket items such as a home and extreme emergencies.
  2. Use cash! If you do use a credit card, only charge what you can pay off each month.
  3. Pay off your vehicles and do not purchase another one until you can pay cash.
  4. Pay off your home as soon as possible. Sacrifice if you need to, but increase the rate of payment so you pay it off early.
  5. Set up and follow a proper budget so that you know what you have available to spend and what you should be spending it on. There are plenty of resources available to help you create a good budget. One of the best, in my opinion, is Dave Ramsey’s “Total Money Makeover.”
  6. Consider all financial decisions/commitments carefully. Ensure that they are what the LORD wants you to do, and not just because you want to satisfy some material desire.

Voting in every election! Stand up for the Constitution and do not permit your rights to be undermined! If we want to keep the USA strong and free as the Founding Fathers created it to be, we need to vote for individuals at all levels of government who stand for Biblical values and the Constitution as it was written, not just their interpretation that supports their personal and/or party agenda. We need leaders who truly represent their constituents rather than those individuals who write them the big checks. We need leaders who will not “play the game” just so that they can keep their job.

This is not an all-inclusive list. I am sure that you can add some items that I have not considered. Being prepared is a matter of viewpoint, attitude, and commitment.

A lot more could be said and is being said by those more knowledgeable than I. I just hope that I have given you some food for thought to chew on. In closing, I offer the following suggested additional sources:

Until the next time…May the LORD bless and protect you…May He give you Shalom. (Numbers 6:24-26)

Musings on COVID-19 #4

Continued from Musings on COVID-19 #3

Some of my thoughts on all of this:

First, and most importantly, although our leaders in the US and elsewhere are touting the good job they have done, the credit doesn’t go to them alone. The credit primarily goes to the answered prayers of many believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Let us never forget that He is in control, though it may not always seem like it because it isn’t the way we want Him to do things.

I am thankful that our medical professionals and researchers have made what appear to be successful attempts to control the spread of COVID-19. However, the potential outcome of some of these measures raises questions as to whether the measures have been too much, and/or are being extended too long. To me, it seems to be getting to the point of “the cure being worse than the illness.” However, in all fairness, if the effects had been as disastrous as originally thought, the story might be different. On the other hand, I understand that there are statistics available that say “maybe we over-reacted.” However, as with all statistics, we have to remember that it is fairly easy for statisticians to make the numbers say what they want them to say. I have more concern over the long-term impact of some of these measures and those that will be put into place under the mantra of “protecting us from this happening again” or should I say the mantra of the “experts” who want to “protect us from ourselves because they are so much smarter than the average ‘Joe’”?

What is giving me pause for concern are the many ideas being floated for future prevention and protection. Ideas such as an app that tracks us and tells others whether we’ve had COVID-19 or have been/could be exposed. While conspiracy theories abound, this one is not a conspiracy theory. Many are developing such apps, and some are currently available, though I didn’t find many actual tracking apps in the Google Play store yet. One disconcerting app announcement was made by the mayor of Chicago on April 27. She announced that their app provided treatment advice and permitted individuals to get on the list to receive a vaccine when it becomes available. It might be well and good if you’re interested in getting vaccinated. The more disconcerting part of the announcement was that she said they were mapping plans to vaccinate the entire city. Planning is good, but this sounds like they are ramping up to attempt forced vaccinations, which, I believe, would be a definite violation of rights. (Refer to articles listed at the end of Musings on COVID-19 #5.)

Another idea I’ve heard floated is an ID card, or bracelet, providing information as to whether we have tested positive for the virus and/or have been vaccinated. I don’t like anything of this sort because they can be used for unintended control purposes.

What has piqued my interest are the recent reminders that respected individuals forecasted a COVID-19-like event many years ago—some “accidentally” via fictional works and some prophetically.

Author Dean Koontz eerily predicted the coronavirus outbreak in his 1981 thriller “The Eyes of Darkness.” The fictional noveltells the story of a Chinese military lab that creates a new virus to use as a biological weapon. The lab is ironically located in Wuhan, China, and the made-up virus is called Wuhan-400. I don’t think this is the only novel with a virus theme.

Another novel is the medical thriller by one of my favorite authors Lisa Harris. Port of Origin was released on 4/30/2020 and centers on an unknown virus infecting Africa and the USA. It was written before COVID-19 was known, though they did insert a mention of it just before publication.

Do these fictional books truly predict a pandemic? I don’t know, HaShem works in mysterious ways. I just find the timing interesting. This sort of timing has occurred two or three times with Joel C. Rosenberg’s novels.

However, David Wilkerson is a recognized prophet and his prophecies are not in fictional books and messages. In his book, “The Vision and Beyond”, an updated edition of his 1974 bestseller, we read today prophecies of events that were unthinkable in 1974 and 2003. I haven’t finished re-reading it but many of his prophecies read like old news headlines today. Rev. Wilkerson purportedly prophesized in a 1986 discussion and a couple of messages in later years about a pandemic similar to COVID-19 with businesses and churches being shut down. However, this cannot be verified.

I’m sure that, with some Google searching, we could find more valid, as well as many invalid prophecies and claims of prophecies regarding the current pandemic and even other happenings. But, rather than pursuing them, I’d prefer to offer some considerations on the question “What do we do now?”

I’ll cover those in Musings on COVID-19 #5, the final part of this series, which will be posted 5/29/20.

Musings on COVID-19 #3

Musings on COVID-19 #3

Some rambling thoughts expressing my personal opinion regarding what is occurring in the U.S., and what could be occurring behind the scenes and in the future. This post could be entitled “Control-Control-Control,” “Voice of Reason,” “Never say never,” “It Can Never Happen”, or just “Food for Thought. Take your pick after you read it…

Let me start by clarifying that this post is not intended to blatantly contradict what our authorities are doing or perpetuate conspiracy theories. (I don’t want WordPress, Facebook, or anyone else to take it down for violating their “community standards” and thus canceling out my “free speech.” :-)) I believe that our authorities and medical professionals have the best intentions and are taking action based on the best information that they have available. At least for the most part! I also want to say that I don’t put much credibility in most conspiracy theories, though they can be entertaining and some do contain a degree of truth. However, when knowledgeable and trustworthy individuals start saying some of the same things, and we see that past reliable prophecies appear to be coming true, we should pause and give some serious consideration beyond what is in front of our noses.

I also want to be clear that I am not medically trained, so I do not have the expertise to assess these “theories” from a medical point-of-view.

I think we all agree that COVID-19 is/has been a real threat and something to be taken seriously. There will be discussions, opinions, and bloviating as to whether the authorities took the correct actions for many years to come.

There have been many opinion pieces on YouTube and many other sources raising questions as to what the real story behind the pandemic is. And more are popping up daily. As a reader of mystery novels and the occasional political thriller, I find some of them intriguing, to say the least. As a sidebar, I must say that I think YouTube’s policy of removing any post that questions the actions and directions of WHO is totally off base. As a private corporation, I defend their right to block whatever content they want to block, but I think they are being, at the very least, extremely narrow-minded in this policy. It is very clear to me that WHO doesn’t have our best interests at heart. (End of sidebar.)

Originally, I was going to discuss some of the theories that have been floating through cyberspace, but that would make for a very long post. Besides, most of you have probably chased more of them than I have. There are some wild-sounding ideas out there and some well-researched ones, and some that leave you thinking, “maybe yes, maybe no.” I’m speaking of articles/videos such as:

  • Articles comparing the current pandemic to past pandemics such as the Bubonic plague in 1347-1351 and the Spanish flu in 1918 during WW1 and showing that this is nowhere as bad.
  • The interview of two Bakersfield, Calif doctors in Bakersfield by KGUYN-9 TV. YouTube may have finally given up on taking it down because many reliable sources are reposting it.
  • The video of a message by Rev. Danny Jones of Northlake Baptist Church. I don’t think he is trying to spread a weird conspiracy theory.
  • “Thoughts on the Current Crisis”, an excellent article by Larry P. Arnn, President of Hillsdale College in the March/April 2020 issue of Imprimis.
  • The articles about the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s vaccination quest that could include a tracking mechanism.
  • A claim that the Cares Act – the original Act providing “survival” funds to business and all taxpayers was actually drafted Jan. 24, 2020 before the pandemic was acknowledged.
  • The viral Pandemic video by Dr. Judy Mikovits that is no longer available on YouTube
  • The video “The Global Health Mafia Protection Racket” on Facebook.
  • And on, and on

OK, I know I said I wasn’t going to spend a lot of time on the above…but, didn’t I say that I just wasn’t’ going to analyze each one?

So, what are my thoughts on all this? I’m glad you asked.  But, you’ll have to wait for the next post—Musings on COVID-19 #4

Until the next time…May the LORD bless and protect you…May He give you Shalom. (Numbers 6:24-26)

Musings on COVID-19 #2

Musings on COVID-19 #2

Many have been looking to God during this pandemic; will they continue to do so afterward? Or will they slowly turn back away from Him as they slowly return to the old “normal”? We’ve heard testimony from pastors who are seeing a higher number of individuals attending their online services than attended in person. Some of these new attendees may be watching because their home congregation is not doing online services. However, will those who are truly new show up when in-person services are permitted again? Will they continue to attend online, if the congregation they are watching continues online services in conjunction with in-person services?

Only time will tell. I hope and pray that I am wrong, but my “Doubting-Thomas” side says, “No, they will disappear into the woodwork until another crisis occurs”. My question for them is “what if you don’t have the opportunity to turn to God before the next crisis occurs nationally or personally and it costs you your life? Don’t say that it isn’t possible. Unfortunately, many in this world pass suddenly who have said, “Tomorrow I’ll commit to Jesus.” I am confident that many who died from COVID-19, died without the Lord as their Savior because they delayed the decision, fully expecting to recover. Besides, it isn’t just about being His disciple when you pass; it is also about having Him in your life today, to help you through crises in your life, major and minor.

If you are reading this and you have never made a decision to accept Jesus as your Savior, or if you made such a decision once but have grown cold towards Him, don’t delay another moment. It is simple, you don’t have to say or do anything special. You only need to tell Him, in your own words, that you are sorry for how you have lived, how you have ignored Him (that is called “repentance”), and that you accept Him as your Savior and want to make Him the Lord of your life. Then, start reading your Bible, find a congregation that supports your decision, and start learning how He wants you to live. When you make this decision to turn your life over to Jesus, or if you even have any questions, contact me by commenting on this post via my blog site. Provide your contact information and I will get in touch. Your personal information will be kept confidential.

Until the next time…“May the LORD bless you and watch, guard, and keep you; May the LORD make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; May the LORD lift up His face toward you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).” (Numbers 6:24-26)

Musings on COVID-19 #1

Musings on COVID-19 #1

Just what does God want us to do at this time, anyway?

Probably many things, but I believe that one is not to be so focused on “how do we get back to the way things were” that we miss what He is saying and doing. We should not be sitting around just waiting for the day we can go back to whatever we were doing last February, in the same way that we were doing it. This applies to all areas of life—our jobs, our houses of worship, our families, our interests. I “hear” people saying,

  • “I can’t wait to get back to the office,”
  • “I can’t wait to get back to the church building,”
  • “I can’t wait to get back to my favorite brewery,”
  • “I can’t wait to go to (name your favorite event),”
  •  Etc.

The underlying thought behind each of these is “I can’t wait for things to get back to the way they were!” Could it be that God doesn’t want things to go back to the “way they were”?

I’m not suggesting that there is anything wrong with desiring to see friends, extended family, and co-workers in person. I’m retired, so I don’t have co-workers, but I am looking forward to physically being with my family and friends, and getting back to giving back to my community in person. What I’m speaking of goes beyond that.

I believe that we need to be taking advantage of this time away from the busyness and same-ol’-same-ol’; the busyness of our church activities, work activities, family activities, etc. He wants us to rest in Him and seek His direction for how He wants our life to look going forward. I believe that He is using this time to get our attention and we need to give it to Him. I sense that He wants things to be different. (James 1:5-6*; Dan 2:21-23*) This applies to leadership in regards to how they lead and coordinate their organizations as well.

We need to examine the old path and determine whether it is the one that He actually wants us to follow. (Jer 6:16*) We should not “throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater” just to change something, but we need to be willing to face reality and change as He directs. We will probably be stretched, but if we, in our free will, don’t go along, then what????

*Scriptures

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” James 1:5–6 (ESV)

“He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;
He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.
To You, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise,
for You have given me wisdom and might,
and have now made known to me what we asked of You,
for You have made known to us the king’s matter.
Daniel 2:21–23 (ESV)

“Thus says the Lord: Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16 (ESV)

Until the next time…May the LORD bless and protect you…May He give you Shalom. (Numbers 6:24-26)

Prayer for Businesses and Contract Workers

Prayer for Businesses and Contract Workers

The businesses that are being adversely affected by COVID-19 have been heavy on my heart.  I was speaking with the manager of one of our favorite restaurants the other day, Serendipity in downtown Cary, NC. He said that they are doing enough business to keep the lights on but it isn’t easy.  Thank HaShem for that!

However, many are reaching the point where they are facing the real possibility of having to close permanently. Also, remember individuals who are independent contractors who are unable to work. I think most barbers and hairstylists are in the latter category, and my wife and I personally know four of them. Please keep them all in prayer.  Pray that HaShem will show them creative ways to continue to generate some level of income.

At this moment we may be subject to man-made rules that are really hurting us but HaShem is still in control and is carrying us through to victory in Him!

Until the next time…May the LORD bless and protect you…May He give you Shalom. (Numbers 6:24-26)

Where is the House?

Where is the House?

Hmmm, I was going to write a post talking about our “dedicated” House of Representatives leaving Washington during the pandemic and the need to conduct much-needed business concerning it. That maybe they were “essential workers” who needed to be in place. Then I was going to talk about how this might be a good idea because it might not be as easy for them to grab more “pork” for their big-spending supporters’ favorite projects.

However, in verifying whether they really were deserting DC during a crisis, I learned that I had misunderstood what I thought I heard. They have been gone for some time, leaving in the name of social distancing. And, now they are not returning as planned to work on the next package, and I would presume other needed items – a balanced budget would be a good one to put some real effort into.

In all fairness, some of their logic makes sense. The House is a crowded place with probably thousands of staffers, reporters, and others milling around and working in tight quarters. Even some of the members’ offices are on the small side—hard to maintain social distancing. Many of the members are elderly, even older than yours truly, and need to be extra careful. On the positive side, we all could use some “social distancing” from many of them anyway, but that is a subject for another post.

I was going to “celebrate” that, being out-of-town, they wouldn’t have as much opportunity to add to our ridiculously high, unmanageably high, national debt that we will never be able to pay off unless we print excessive amounts of extra money, which, in turn, would significantly lower the value of the dollar, which in turn… you get the idea. However, it appears that they may actually be working from home like many of the rest of our population. Of course, staying home does make it easier to campaign for re-election and at a lower drain on the ol’ campaign budget because they don’t have to travel from DC.

However, now that I know they are at least claiming to be working from home, I doubt staying at home will lessen their, shall I say “tendency” (to be nice), to add as many pork dollars as possible to every bill they pass, especially the economic relief/virus aid packages. Hmmm, I hadn’t thought of the economic relief packages as “virus aid” – are we aiding and abetting the virus?

Should they be allowed to “work from home”? In reality, absolutely! When I worked at home before finally fully retiring, I was more productive than when in the office, both work-wise and personally. Although, it seems to me that politicians being consistently truly effective may be an oxymoron. And, during an election year, this is a nice perk because, as I said, it makes it easier to campaign when they should be working.

I read that they may not fully resume operations in DC for a year – not a bad deal, for them. And it may be not such a bad deal for us if their work-at-home efforts are not as productive as they should be. Then again, that effect could be bad for us, though I’m not sure how they could “drag their heels” any more than they do in DC. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what they do if DC allows its stay-at-home order to expire May 15 as currently scheduled. What will their excuse be then?

In closing, we do have the greatest system of government that was ever created or even envisioned. I am thankful that I can write a post like this w/o fear of the Gestapo knocking at my door. However, regardless of how badly we need a change of personnel in Washington, we need to be praying for them. Many in DC are doing the Lord’s work, even within Congress. They need our prayers for wisdom and support and the non-believers need our prayers for their salvation.

Until the next time…May the LORD bless and protect you…May He give you Shalom. (Numbers 6:24-26)

HaShem Is In Control

HaShem Is In Control

Baruch HaShem (Praise God) on this quiet Sunday morning. I’m sitting on my back porch listening to the rainwater drip from the trees. Thanks be to HaShem that the forecast heavy rain and possible hail did not materialize last night—at least not in this part of Cary, NC. I pray that is true where you are as well.

Today promises to be a beautiful day, but then every day is beautiful in Yeshua. Every day is beautiful because HaShem, our Heavenly Father, created it all. No, He doesn’t create the bad; I don’t believe that for a moment. However, as the proverbial saying goes, “There is a silver lining in every cloud.” Our Father uses every situation, every circumstance in our lives for our good—from His perspective.

The other day, after listening to the news, I blurted out to the Lord, “Lord, this must end!” Immediately, the thought came back, “But I’m not done yet!” I hope and pray that it was just my imagination. However, though I am not a prophet or the son of a prophet, I do have a feeling that He is not done using COVID-19 for His purposes. I am confident that He wants to get our attention. He is calling His people, all mankind, to Himself. He is saying, “Wake up! The time is near! Believer and unbeliever alike, it is time to repent and turn to Me because the Kingdom of Heaven is near. I am the source of your healing from COVID-19, from all of your sickness and disease, and will deliver you from your idols. Make Me first in everything! In your personal lives, in your work, in your government, in your politics. I must be first! I do not promise a life of ease, but I will not give you more than you can bear. I love you. I created you, every one of you! Turn to Me, your Salvation.”

Father, draw us close, touch us, anoint us with Your Spirit, we long to see You, Lord! We love the feel of Your arms around us.

If He is not your Savior and/or the Lord of your life, make Him so today!
